Dr. Oleh Khalimonchuk is the Susan J. Rosowski Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a member of Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Center for Iron & Hematology Disorders at the University of Utah. Dr. Khalimonchuk received his Ph.D. degree from the TU Dresden/Max-Planck Institute for Cell Biology & Genetics (Germany) in 2006 and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City.
Dr. Khalimonchuk’s research is focused on fundamental processes underlying the key aspects of vital mitochondrial functions and their contribution to aging-associated complex diseases in humans. His current research interests include the mechanisms of intramitochondrial heme trafficking in health and disease and neuroprotective roles of mitochondrial quality control factors.
